Any place of stay in Zanzibar
Nungwi Village is located on the north coast of Zanzibar, there is a white sandy beach that is very conducive for swimming and beach relaxation. You will have a chance to visit the beaches and villages on the northern edge of Zanzibar on a half-day tour to Nungwi Beach where you’ll have free time to explore and play. You will also visit the Baraka Natural Aquarium, Kendwa Beach and a place where traditional dhows are built.
Nungwi is the name of the village in the northern part of Zanzibar Island. This part of the trip mainly focuses on the Cultural village visit of the Nungwi Village, sightseeing and free time to relax at the white sand beach of the north. At Nungwi there are a number of very interesting things to see and do including Baraka Natural Aquarium, a place where traditional dhows are built and Kendwa Rock Beach.
Swimming with Turtles At Baraka Natural Aquarium
Start your visit by visiting Baraka Natural Aquarium in which is home to endangered sea turtles and a variety of fish. The aquarium itself is a natural formation carved out from the coral bedrock by the erosion of millions of waves crashing against the shore. The depth of the water rises and falls with the tides providing a natural environment for its inhabitants. Use the unique opportunity to swim with sea turtles. During the visit, you can also feed turtles with seaweed or just spend your time in the water. Also, you can take snorkeling mask to dive and watch them in their natural environment.
Visit the dhow-building capital of Zanzibar
We will stop at the blacksmith and see the traditional way of making the tools for the construction of dhows. At the construction site, we will see the way dhows have been built for centuries and see how skilled craftsmen bend wood to create the dhows. Take advantage of the opportunity to try your hand at this unique craft. While watching the white sails of the Dhows go by, you might wonder how these impressive boats are made. The Nungwi Boat Yard is a riveting (if you’ll pardon the pun) experience where you’ll meet the shipyard owner and learn how the dhows are built; from the sourcing of the wood to the joints used and how they are launched.
Explore Kendwa Beach - A must-visit Destination
We will end your day by exploring Kendwa Rock Beach where you’ll have free time to explore and play. The Kendwa Beach is located in the same-name village in the northwest of Zanzibar, it is popular with travelers from all over the world. This is one of the best resorts in Zanzibar. It is calm, quiet and peaceful. Kendwa is a wide and long beach, so there is enough space for all vacationers and suitable for both adults and children. The slope is flat, the water deepens gradually and quickly. There is no shallow water, shells, stones and algae. On the coast fine white sand lies and tall perennial palms grow. The ocean is calm with azure, clear and transparent water.
